MSU Sponsors Venue at Grand Rapids’ ArtPrize: 31 MSU artists—students, alumni and faculty

September 21, 2009

Have you heard about ArtPrize? This Grand Rapids-based social experiment for artists will engage the public in new ways and award nearly one-half million dollars to prize winners. More than 155 venues, including an MSU GALLERY, will exhibit art work by 1,262 artists from around the world in the city's downtown region from September 23 through October 10.

The Michigan State University exhibition is sponsored by the College of Human Medicine, College of Arts & Letters, and the Department of Art & Art History. The MSU Gallery will feature 31 artists with connections to MSU—students, alumni and faculty. The public is invited to meet the MSU artists at the Opening Reception on September 23 from 6 p.m.–10 p.m.  The venue for the MSU Gallery is located at 445 Michigan Street NE, near College Avenue.

ArtPrize is structured as an interactive event, Sept. 23 through Oct. 10 that encourages the public to participate in the selection of ten winning artists. Registered visitors will have the opportunity to vote online or via text message for the artists they like best and the artist with the most votes takes the $250,000 ArtPrize.
