College of Human Medicine only Organization/Group (organization that only exists in the college)

Mission: Our vision is to gather students who have a passion for advocating for and learning how to help vulnerable populations. We would like to have different speakers talk at 3 separate events about different vulnerable populations and ways to get involved in helping that population. Following each event, we would like to volunteer with a community organization who works with the population that was presented on by the previous speaker. We would like to collaborate with other interest groups, such as the Pediatrics Interest Group and Physicians for Social Responsibility, to host these events.

National Organization (Organization that is affiliated with a national membership organization)

Mission: The Latin American Native American Medical Association is a chapter within the Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA), a national student organization. The National level has an executive board consisting of members from different regions. After the national level, chapters are divided based on regions. We are part of the Midwest region that has its own executive board members elected from chapters within the region. We recognized that there was not a Native American student group at CHM. Hence, LMSA became LANAMA at CHM as a platform to teach students about the population, culture, and health care needs of Native Americans and for representation of Native American medical students.
